Why do we kiss the feet of Christ on the cross on Good Friday?
|Veneration of the Cross|
|Q||Why do we kiss the feet of Christ on the cross on Good Friday?|
Kissing an object in the Catholic tradition is a sign of reverence for what that object represents. On Good Friday we show reverence to the Cross of Christ by venerating it with either a kiss or some other sign of reverence. The Cross represents for us all that Jesus suffered out of love for the human race. Although many some Churches have people reverence Christ by kissing His feet on a crucifix, the proper way to celebrate the Veneration of the Cross if for people to kiss a cross that does not have the corpus, ie the Lord's Body on it.
